Mailman 2 is a traditional “listserv” that allows you to communicate with your list members via email. It includes an administrative interface to manage your list and an archiver to archive your list messages.
Mailman 2 Administration
Mailman 2 classic includes an admin interface that is primarily designed for a list owner. Our shared mailman 2 service only includes this type of admin interface. Our cloud mailman 2 service also includes another interface that allows cloud owners to create as many lists as they need. Keep in mind that Mailman 2 is no longer being developed. If you want a Mailman version that is being updated and comes with a more modern admin interface, then you may want to consider using our Mailman 3 list hosting. It comes with Affinity which is a modern and user-friendly admin interface.
Mailman 2 Archives
Mailman 2 classic comes with pipermail as its archiver. Archives are sorted by month/year. They can be configured private or public and can be turned on or off. The format of Mailman 2 archives is mbox. Mailman 2 archives are not searchable or sortable. If you want your archives to be searchable and sortable then you may want to consider our Mailman 3 list hosting. It comes with searchable and sortable archives via Empathy.
